Michel “Labex” Labaki: PTSD

Bassist Michel “Labex” Labaki mixed his musical skills with his Masters in Music Therapy to create a song and video calling attention to post-traumatic stress disorder, also known as PTSD.

“Shot in an asylum, the video shows a girl who is constantly haunting the minds of a group of musicians, reflecting the torment of patients affected by Post-traumatic Stress Disorder,” he writes. “We were trying to show what it feels like to be restrained by a straitjacket, whereas in reality, we are actually free. The restraints are invisible; they are only in our heads, and the prison outfits indicate how we are also imprisoned by that pathology. This is the mindset we need to develop: to break free of our chains and move forward. I hope the online bass community will like the song and the video showcasing it.”
