Kamasi Washington: Malcolm’s Theme, Live at Paste Studios

I’m a huge Kamasi Washington fan, and that’s thanks in part to the amazing bass work of Miles Mosley. Here’s an awesome stripped down version of “Malcolm’s Theme” from Washington’s 2015 album The Epic, live at Paste Studios.

The song is driven by Mosley’s active bass line, which he accents with a slew of pedals to build different sections. Check out the octaver on an upright!

In his time with No Treble, Kevin has met hundreds of amazing bassists and interviewed icons like Jack Casady, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, and more. He's a gigging bassist performing jazz in Northern Virginia and bluegrass with The Plate Scrapers up and down the East Coast. Kevin appreciates all genres of music, from R&B to metal and everything in between. Connect with Kevin on Facebook and check his performance schedule on his website.
