Ampeg Announces the Venture VB-88 Bass Cabinet
Last fall, Ampeg launched its newest line of amps and cabs with the Venture Series. Now, they’ve unveiled the largest cabinet of the group with the VB-88. The cab is rated at 800 watts RMS while only weighing 67 pounds.
“The Venture VB-88 is specifically designed for bassists who are looking for the performance and visual impact of the legendary SVT-810 cabinet, but in a more compact and modern-sounding cab,” the company writes. “Paired with a Venture V7 or Venture V12 head, a single VB-88 will move enough air to rattle the rafters of nearly any venue.”
The VB-88, which is front-ported, is fitted with eight custom-voiced 8-inch Lavoce neodymium woofers and a variable high-frequency driver. Other features include a carbon fiber-style Tolex covering, Neutrik speakON inputs, and a kick-back design with dolly-style casters and a towel bar.
The Ampeg Venture VB-88 is coming this spring. It’s available for pre-order at $1,799. An optional cover and Portaflex-style grille are available separately.

A mini coffin! I have played some version of the 8×10 for years. The weight loss is appreciated.
I played bass with two SVT 810 base cabinets with two svt heads for years and the best bass amp ever. The downside is there really heavy and cause me to have future back surgery
