The Messthetics Announce Extensive Tour Dates
The Messthetics have announced their tour schedule for the next few months, and it looks like they’ll be keeping busy. The band, which features former Fugazi members Joe Lally and Brendan Canty with guitarist Anthony Pirog, will be traveling coast to coast as they perform headlining shows, festivals, and support slots for Mdou Moctar.
First up is a pair of Canadian appearances at the Winnipeg Folk Festival and the Hillside Festival in Guelph, Ontario. Things pick up again in August at the Newport Jazz Festival from which they will embark on a week-long run on the East Coast. In September, they’ll focus on the West Coast before heading back east. After more shows in Canada, they’ll head to the Netherlands for a pair of dates in November.
The Messthetics released an album in March with saxophonist James Brandon Lewis, who will join the band for much of its tour. Check out the group’s sound, with Lally’s awesome bass playing filling things out.
