Kamasi Washington (with Miles Mosley): Tiny Desk Concert
NPR’s description of this Tiny Desk Concert starts this way: “Grammy-nominated saxophonist Kamasi Washington brought down the house at his Tiny Desk Concert. He played selections from three of his albums, showcasing his ability, with the support of his killer band, to go from high energy to reflective ballads while never losing danceability.”
It was good to see our friend Miles Mosley performing. The rest of the band includes Rickey Washington on flute and soprano saxophone, Ryan Porter on trombone, Brandon Coleman on keys, Tony Austin on drums, DJ Battlecat on percussion, and Patrice Quinn on vocals.
The group performed “Lesanu,” “Street Fighter Mas,” “The Rhythm Changes,” and “Asha The First.”
