“Heavy Drops”: Adam Ben Ezra’s Genre-Defying Album Set for February 2024

Adam Ben Ezra has a flair for reimagining how to play the bass. He’s been wowing audiences for the past decade, and that will continue into the new year with his upcoming release, Heavy Drops. The self-produced collection of songs will put his unique bass playing into the spotlight with drummer Michael Olivera providing some extra rhythm.
Ben Ezra moved to the countryside in southern Portugal in 2022, where the beautiful setting inspired him to push his limits.
“Teaming up with drummer Michael Olivera in Madrid, the pair felt an instant musical connection led by conversation, interaction, flow and groove,” a press release explains. “Recording the foundation of the record live across three days, Ben Ezra then overdubbed additional layers of bass, vocals, flute and synthesizers at his home studio to support the melodic content and enrich the sound.”
As the bassist’s fans can expect, Heavy Drops will have a wide variety of sounds and styles. “From the Classical influenced melodic etude ‘Portrait of Natalie’, the flamenco melodies of ‘Taming The Bull’, the latin-infused title track, and deep jazz fusion pocket of ‘Hazy Steps’, the record captures Ben Ezra’s driven sense of curiosity, the broad scope of his creativity, and the seemingly boundless potential of an under-appreciated instrument,” the release concludes.
Watch Ben Ezra and Oliveira go to outer space on “Cosmic Nomad.”
Heavy Drops will be out on February 28th.
