Bass Legend John Patitucci Explores Unity and Spiritual Growth in His Upcoming Album, “Spirit Fall”

John Patitucci

John Patitucci has announced that his 17th solo album, Spirit Fall, will be out on February 14th. The record is a trio effort with saxophonist Chris Potter and drummer Brian Blade that explores themes of “unity, spiritual growth, and musical innovation.”

John Patitucci: Spirit Fall“In times like these, music has the power to bridge divides and uplift our collective spirit,” Patitucci states. “With Spirit Fall, I wanted to reach out through our art, connecting not just with family and friends, but with everyone, especially those on the margins.”

The trio are longtime musical partners and had been touring prior to the album’s recording. With just drums and saxophone, Patitucci has plenty of space to fill harmonically. His use of both electric and double bass in his compositions helps to add depth and melody. Hear him talk about his thought process on using each instrument on the album.

Patitucci has released the album’s title track ahead of its release, where you can hear his exquisite chordal work on his six-string electric.

Spirit Fall will be out on February 14th. It’s available for pre-order on CD, vinyl, and as a digital download (Apple Music and Amazon Music).
