Two of the world’s best bass guitarists have teamed up for a new album. Janek Gwizdala and Daniele Camarda have released Seminario, a collection of songs built from improvisations.

The duo recorded the album in an afternoon in Barcelona. Gwizdala says it was an opportunity to work with one of his favorite musicians and biggest bass influence of almost 30 years.

“I met Daniele Camarda when we were both at Berklee in the 90’s. We had a pretty instant musical connection and would go on to become great friends,” he explains on Substack. “It had been way too long since we had seen each other, and even longer since we were able to play together and work on music. We have always kept up with one another’s music over the years and I’m really glad we were able to line up our schedules, even for just a few hours, and make this happen.”

Both artists are melodic masterminds and adept with effects. As such, Gwizdala says the session leaned heavily on their “shared love of effects, melody, and ambient soundscapes.”
