Jad Freer Audio Unveils the Luce: A Studio-Grade Tube DI with British Console DNA

Jad Freer Luce

Jad Freer Audio has introduced the Luce, a studio-quality, transformer-based tube DI box. The unit is equipped with an ECC88/6922 tube and an OEP/Carnhill transformer, similar to those found in British consoles.

“The main purpose of a DI box is to convert an unbalanced, high-impedance instrument signal into a balanced, low-impedance signal — allowing long cable runs without interference and enabling direct connection to a mixing console or studio interface,” the company explains. “Beyond that, LUCE also provides an additional unbalanced output that benefits from the tube circuit, plus an active summing stage that allows two instruments to be connected at once.”

Carson Childers of BASSED explains the Luce and shoots it out against other DI’s in this video. (Note: Childers is a Jad Freer artist.)

The Jad Freer Audio Luce has a direct price of €385 (approx. $455). The first batch sold out, but more are on the way.
