Kade Turner Covers Tool’s “Schism,” One of Bass’s Most Iconic Lines
Kade Turner is back with another clip from his latest session, this time taking on Schism by Tool, and it is a fun one to watch.
Turner is playing a Warwick 4 string through a Gallien-Krueger Legacy Bass Head and GK stack, delivering the kind of punch and clarity that fits this line perfectly. The tone stays tight and articulate while he locks into the shifting groove that makes this bass part such a rite of passage for players. It is also a fitting rig choice. Tool bassist Justin Chancellor has long been associated with Gallien-Krueger amplification, so hearing this line pushed through a GK stack feels right at home.
What makes this playthrough stand out is the pedal work. Turner leans on a Digitech Bass Whammy to capture the pitch effects that are such a signature part of the track. The result is a high energy run through one of bassdom’s most recognizable lines, and Turner absolutely nails it.
We recently shared another performance from this same session, so it is cool to see more of it rolling out. Crank it up and enjoy the ride.
