Harley Benton Teams With BassTheWorld for Its Most Refined J-Style Bass Yet

Harley Benton MV-4JB BTW

Harley Benton has teamed up with Gregor Fris to introduce the MV-4JB Plus BassTheWorld Signature. Although the company is best known for its entry-level instruments, the collaboration brings more refinements to the J-style model.

“I wanted to push the envelope. I wanted to see how far we can get, how good this can be,” the BassTheWorld founder explains. “So here it is, the highest quality bass Harley Benton has ever produced.”

Its American alder body is finished in a Burgundy Mist. The neck is caramelized Canadian hard rock flame maple, which is reinforced with a Roseacer skunk stripe. Pearloid block inlays and cream binding complement the rosewood fingerboard, while glow-in-the-dark side markers help you navigate the neck on dimly lit stages.

A key part of the bass’s design is its electronics. The MV-4JB Plus BassTheWorld Signature has a pair of handmade Kloppmann JB-61 Alnico V single-coil pickups, which on their own cost more than a typical Harley Benton MV Series bass, Fris explains. They’re also a BassTheWorld signature product.

“[The] handmade Kloppmann JB-61 Alnico V single-coil pickups [provide] articulate lows, focused mids, and an open, musical top end, all controlled via high-quality CTS volume and tone pots,” Harley Benton states.

Finally, a Gotoh bridge and Gotoh tuners round out the features.

The Harley Benton MV-4JB Plus BassTheWorld Signature is available now for $777 from Thomann.
