High Fade’s Ollie Sentance Unleashes a Relentless Bass Workout on “The Fly”

High Fade has shared a new performance video for “The Fly,” filmed at RAK Studios in London and the trio is absolutely flying.

The band has built its sound around aggressive funk, breakneck tempos, ripping guitar solos, and the kind of energy that comes from constantly being on the road. “The Fly,” the lone instrumental from their second album, Twice As Nice, puts all of that on full display.

Guitarist Harry Valentino, bassist Ollie Sentance, and drummer Heath Campbell tear through the tune at a ridiculous pace with Sentance locking into rapid sixteenth note lines for nearly the entire performance. He is playing a five string Sandberg Panther here, getting a punchy, articulate tone that cuts right through the trio.  Valentino has called “The Fly” the most challenging track on the album. The arrangement barely lets up, moving from tight funk grooves into blazing guitar solos.

We spoke with Sentance last year for The Bass Nerds, where he talked about his approach to speed, stamina, and articulation. This performance is a pretty great example of all three.  Check out that interview HERE.
