Watch Donald “Duck” Dunn Back Joe Walsh on “Rocky Mountain Way”
It is always a good day when more footage of Donald “Duck” Dunn shows up.
Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival channel recently uploaded this upscaled performance of Joe Walsh playing “Rocky Mountain Way” at the 2004 festival at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.
Walsh was backed by Booker T. & the MGs for the set, which also included “Walk Away,” a blues jam, and “Funk #49” before closing with “Rocky Mountain Way.”
For us, the real treat is Dunn. He is holding the groove on a Fender P Bass through an Ampeg rig, alongside Steve Cropper on guitar and Booker T. Jones on keyboards. Dunn gives the performance its foundation and momentum with that signature feel and a beautifully deep pocket.
It is great to continue seeing these clips of Duck surface, especially with footage this good.
