Henrik Linder Goes Mini With New Mayones Cali Signature Basses
Mayones Guitars has partnered with Dirty Loops bassist Henrik Linder to create signature versions of the company’s mini Cali bass. The Mayones Cali HL 5 and Cali HL 6 turn the travel-sized bass design into something totally new.
“The Cali4 & 5 were originally designed as fun travel companions – tiny basses that would allow us to make use of the highest-quality wood left over from the production of our full-sized instruments,” Mayones shares. “But once Henrik Linder of Dirty Loops picked one up, it became a different beast entirely – a unique instrument somewhere between a bass and a guitar, opening up a whole new way of playing, with tones and chord voicings unlike anything else.”
Linder’s Cali comes in five- and six-string versions, each with a compact 17.1-inch scale. The neck-through basses are built around an 11-ply neck of maple, mahogany, Amazakoe, and wenge topped with an ebony fingerboard. The body has swamp ash wings and a swamp ash top with a layer of wenge between.
For electronics, Mayones fits a Velvetrone Double Noble HL Soapbar pickup, controlled by a 3-band EQ and a miniswitch for series or parallel operation. In addition to a standard 1/4-inch output, the Cali HL 5 and 6 have an onboard headphone output and a 1/8-inch stereo aux input.

The Mayones Cali HL 5 and 6 come in Ultra Pink and Gothic Black. They debuted at the Guitar Summit in Mannheim, Germany, and Mayones has not announced official pricing.
