EarthQuaker Gives the Blumes Jr More Low-End Crunch in Limited MOSFET Mod Run

EarthQuaker Devices has introduced two new limited-edition pedals with the Plumes Jr MOSFET Mod Small Signal Shredder and Blumes® Jr MOSFET Mod Low Signal Shredder. The two new units build upon the original full-size Plumes and Blumes with a more compact design. They offer tube-like overdrive with three distinct clipping voices, but that’s also where they differ.
“The third clipping mode (which is the most ‘screamer’-style setting from the standard Plumes and Blumes) has been swapped with a new MOSFET clipping mode that produces a harmonically rich, focused overdrive with enhanced low end and a dynamic response similar to a modern high-gain tube amp,” EarthQuaker writes.
The company adds that it is not replacing the original Plumes and Blumes. The new “mini-mods” are strictly limited runs.
“I thought it would be cool to further differentiate these variants from the stock versions,” EarthQuaker Devices Founder and President Jamie Stillman explained. “The MOSFET Mod retains a little of the classic character of the original Mode 3, but adds more low end crunch and sustain for those looking for a heavier option.”
The Blumes Jr is the bass-centric model, offering more gain and a deeper bass response to preserve low-end clarity. Its three clipping modes are labeled L (LED), N (OpAmp drive), and M (Mosfet).
The EarthQuaker Blumes Jr MOSFET Mod is available now for $129. It’s limited to 1,000 units.
