Geezer Butler: No Black Sabbath Reunion for Original Members
The hopes for a full Black Sabbath reunion seem to have come to a halt, according to a post from bassist Geezer Butler.
In a statement on his website, Butler wrote, “I would like to make it clear, because of mounting speculation and rumours, that there will be definitely NO reunion of all four original members of Black Sabbath, whether to record an album or to tour.”
It is still unclear whether a “Sabbath reunion” without the original members will take place.
Rumors of the iconic metal band reforming have been swirling lately, especially after the passing of Ronnie James Dio, though singer Ozzy Osbourne’s schedule has prevented the reunion. Though Butler previously reported he was open to getting the original members back together, he has been skeptical as of late.
“Ozzy’s on tour with his own band for the next year or whatever,” he said in an interview with Noisecreep. “I’m sure Ozzy will say ‘yes’ and ‘no’ every week for the next year while he’s on tour. It’s one thing to want to do something like that just before you go out to tour a record. You say, ‘Oh yeah, I’m gonna tour for the next five years.’ And then six weeks into it, you can’t wait to get home. So we’ll just see how he feels when he finishes his Ozzy Osbourne tour.”
