Mavis Staples Collaborates with Ben Harper for “We Get By”
Mavis Staples is back with a new album with a little help from a friend. We Get By is co-produced and written by Ben Harper, who also appears on the title track. It’s the twelfth solo album from Staples and continues her message of hope.
“These songs are delivering such a strong message,” Staples said. “We truly need to make a change if we want this world to be better.”
Longtime Staples bassist Jeff Turmes delivers that old school soul groove to tie the album together. Hear his perfectly tasteful line on the title track:
