Bass of the Week: Höfner Contemporary 500/5 President Bass

This week we’re checking out the Höfner 500/5 President Bass from their affordable Contemporary series. Modeled on the original hollow-body basses from the ’50s and ’60s, the bass has a 30-inch scale that the company says gives it a “relaxed feel despite the large body.”
It retains the sound of the ’60s with a pair of the company’s “toaster” pickups. Modern features include a redesigned headstock and tailpiece. It comes in both black and sunburst finishes.
