Don Was To Join The Last Waltz 2022 Tour
Blackbird Presents has unveiled another round of The Last Waltz Tour, which pays homage to The Band’s epic farewell concert from 1976. It will once again feature an incredible lineup including Warren Haynes, Jamey Johnson, Kathleen Edwards, Anders Osborne, Dave Malone, John Medeski, Cyril Neville, Terence Higgins, Bob Margolin, Mark Mullins & The Levee Horns.
Filling the shoes of the late Rick Danko will be the inimitable Don Was, who will be joining the tour just days after wrapping up a run with Bobby Weir and Wolf Bros.
“It is such an honor that the musical celebration of The Last Waltz and The Band carries on today. Blackbird Presents and this extraordinary lineup of musicians makes me proud to be a part of this ongoing and wonderful tradition.” says original The Band guitarist Robbie Robertson.
The 13-show tour will begin with two nights at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York, before making its way south. After covering New England and the mid-Atlantic, the show will wrap things up with a smattering of shows in Georgia and Florida. The final date is scheduled for November 20th at the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg, Florida.
The original Last Waltz took place on Thanksgiving Day in 1976, effectively marking the end of The Band’s original lineup, although they would perform one more time after the late set of Danko’s solo show at The Roxy in 1978.
