MXR’s First Tuner Pedal Taps Sonic Research’s Turbo Tuner Technology
MXR has announced its first-ever tuner: the Turbo Tuner. The pedal is built around the core engine of the original Sonic Research Turbo Tuner and offers “instantaneous, fraction-of-a-cent accuracy,” the company says.
“At its center is a big, bright true strobe display, driven by the analog signal straight from your instrument,” MXR writes. “There’s no lag and no bouncing needles. Sharp notes rotate right, flat notes rotate left, and the pattern slows to a creep as you close in on pitch.”
The MXR Turbo Tuner has a Chromatic mode plus five customizable presets that support up to ±50-cent offsets for alternate tunings and microtonal experimentation. It also has four brightness levels, a high-fidelity buffer with three buffered bypass modes, a Mute indicator LED, an automatic power-up mode, and more.
As deep as the pedal gets, MXR says one of its qualities is its low-end tracking, making it a great fit for bass.
The MXR Turbo Tuner is available now for $149.99.
