Walter Areia Quartet: Sol e o Girassol

Brazilian bassist and composer Walter Areia has just released a beautiful new song called “Sol e o Girassol.” Written as a theme for his sister, Solange, the song paints a gorgeous picture as the songwriter is joined by percussionist Sebastian Scheriff, pianist Giordanno Barbieri, and accordionist Julian Tarragô.

Areia plays big, beautiful notes on his three-string bass, building the rhythm as the song progress. His lines give breath to the music for the others to build on to create a thoughtful and exciting interplay.

In his time with No Treble, Kevin has met hundreds of amazing bassists and interviewed icons like Jack Casady, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, and more. He's a gigging bassist performing jazz in Northern Virginia and bluegrass with The Plate Scrapers up and down the East Coast. Kevin appreciates all genres of music, from R&B to metal and everything in between. Connect with Kevin on Facebook and check his performance schedule on his website.
