Bunny Brunel‘s band CAB has announced “Theatre de Marionettes”, the band’s first new release in five years. The lineup for CAB this time around includes Bunny Brunel, Tony MacAlpine, Virgil Donati, Patrice Rushen, Brian Auger, with special guest appearances by Chick Corea and Michel Polnareff. Bassist/composer William Parker has released “Petit Oiseau”, the latest CD by his quartet. The release features eight tracks, all written by Parker, featuring Hamid Drake on drums and percussion, Rob Brown on sax and clarinet, Lewis Barnes on trumpet, and Parker. The CD is released by AUM Fidelity and now available on Amazon.com.

Mark Caro of the Chicago Tribune has an entertaining interview with Devo bassist/singer Gerald Casale. Devo hasn’t had an new album released in 18 years, but their smash hit “Whip It” is being featured in commercials selling cleaning products and toothbrushes. [editors note: now I feel old and kinda sad.] The funniest part to us? Devo sued McDonalds.
