Upcoming bluegrass workshop: Bass “Strummit”

Jason MooreThe Bass “Strummit” bass workshop has been announced. The workshop, led by the Mountain Heart bassist Jason Moore and assisted by Sandy Ridge bass man Mike Conner, will cover skill levels from beginner to advanced. The event will be held on January 2, 2010, in Roanoke, Virginia.

The class size will be capped to just 20 students to allow the most constructive time with each instructor, and early arrivers will be given first selection on bass string samples and other items being given out by sponsors of the event.

Many different topics will be discussed at the workshop, ranging from common ideas to less talked about techniques. Common ideas include basic hand technique, tone, rhythm and time, and amplification. Some of the more obscure skills that will be included are percussion licks on the fretboard, tasteful backup, and “less is more” theory, giving a well rounded selection of interesting topics during the entire course. Since the workshop is a multi-day event, rooms and services will be available as well.

The Mill Mountain Theater Atelier will be hosting the workshop, in downtown Roanoke, across from the Taubman Museum of Art. For more information check out Sandy Ridge blog. Deadline for registration will be December 10th, 2009.
