Esperanza Spalding to join McCoy Tyner for New Year’s performance

Esperanza SpaldingEsperanza Spalding will be joining legendary jazz pianist McCoy Tyner, along with Ravi Coltrane and Francisco Mela for a run of six nights, including New Years Eve, at Yoshi’s in Oakland.

Tyner rose to fame as a member of John Coltrane’s quartet and has been a staple of the jazz community ever since. Spalding, who is the youngest professor ever to teach at Berklee, has been gaining fame from her phenomenal bass playing and singing.

In his time with No Treble, Kevin has met hundreds of amazing bassists and interviewed icons like Jack Casady, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, and more. He's a gigging bassist performing jazz in Northern Virginia and bluegrass with The Plate Scrapers up and down the East Coast.
