Coldplay bassist’s “Apparatjik” supergroup debuts

Apparatjik

Coldplay bassist Guy Berryman’s supergroup side project, “Apparatjik,” featuring Magne Furuholmen from A-Ha, producer Martin Terefe and Jonas Bjerre from Mew, will be releasing a new as-yet-untitled album and making their first public appearance on February 1st.

The name Apparatjik comes from the Swedish language and is used to describe people who “create bottlenecks in otherwise efficient organizations.” The group is described as a “project fusing scientific interest and artistic effort.”

The group will be debuting at a club called WMF in Berlin as part of the CTM festival, and oddly enough, their first show will be inside a glass cube.

“Inspired by the Bauhaus movement, the ‘Bauhaus Bühne’, and Lazlo Moholy-Nagy’s work ‘Light-Space-Modulator’ from 1930 in particular, this first ever performance of Apparatjik will take place inside a specially constructed cube at the WMF on Monday, February 1st, 2010,” according to a post on CTM’s web site.
