Gear Watch: BOSS BR-800 Digital Recorder

BOSS has released the new BR-800 Digital Recorder, a portable multi-tracker device. The recorder includes touch-sensor switchers and SD-card recording media. Up to four tracks can be recorded or eight tracks played back simultaneously, with an additional stereo track dedicated to the built-in rhythm generator.

There’s an “EZ Recording” mode for beginners looking for guidance in the recording process. Other features include a “Retry” function, which re-cues automatically to fix mistakes, a built-in stereo condenser mic and “Song Sketch” for instant, one-touch capture.

BOSS has included onboard effects based on their other products into the BR-800, including vocal effects (from the VE-20), COSM guitar/bass effects (from the GT-10 series), and modeled acoustic guitar body effects (from the AP-1 preamp).

The BR-800 can run from the AC adaptor (included), or six AA batteries, and also includes USB for connecting to computers.
