Medeski, Martin and Wood Announce Camp MMW 2011

Medeski, Martin and WoodMedeski, Martin, and Wood have announced Camp MMW 2011, where attendees will have the opportunity to live and study with the progressive jazz trio, which includes the talents of bassist Chris Wood. The 6-day event includes master classes, workshops, ensembles, and performances all led by MMW.

Though players will get the opportunity to learn from Wood, students are encouraged to break out of their safety zone and study with other instrumentalists. Last year, Wood presented a lecture on “Being Spontaneous on Purpose (and why it’s impossible)” on the issue of “preparing” for improvisation.

The fourth annual Camp MMW takes place July 31 through August 5, 2011 at the Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, NY. All musicians aged 16 and up are encouraged to apply. For more details, visit the Camp MMW website.
