The Wood Brothers announced back in April that their next album, Puff of Smoke, would be dropping on August 1st. While the road dogs already had a steady stream of performances coming up, they’ve just announced a fall headlining tour to support the record. The band, anchored by Chris Wood, also dropped a new single called “The Trick.”

“‘The Trick’ is about how we beat ourselves up with self-doubt and constant worry, and how nice it would be to be more bold and ignorant—which is easier said than done,” Oliver Wood told Magnet. “But not giving a damn seems like the goal if you want to stay present, positive, and creative. The song itself was built upon a Fender Rhodes run through distortion and octave pedals that Jano Rix was riffing on in the studio. While that’s a different recipe for us, it was very much an improvised performance, so it has an energy that most of our fans can appreciate.”

Alongside the distorted Rhodes, Chris Wood plays a driving bass line on the upright that deepens the groove.

The Wood Brothers’ new fall dates will begin on November 6th in Knoxville, Tennessee. The trio will then cut up through the Midwest before heading east. Their last date of the year will be on December 13th in Lebanon, New Hampshire. See below for their full 2025 tour dates.
