Alfred Expands Jazz Play-Along Series

Alfred Music Jazz Play-Along SeriesAlfred has expanded on their Jazz Play-Along Series to include new volumes with books and play-along CDs tailored for bass clef instruments, and the entire rhythm section. The rhythm section editions contain written parts for bass, piano, and drums, and offers solo opportunities for those instruments. The publisher has also included an easy play-along series crafted for the novice improviser.

“The goal with this series is to teach improvisation skills at every level, not just the advanced musicians,” said Pete BarenBregge, editor for Belwin Jazz. “Most play-alongs simply provide chord progressions and solo opportunities, but this series also features a written-out sample jazz solo, along with specific tips on how to construct your own solo for each song. This format helps break down the elements and makes improvisation more accessible.”
