Ashdown Introduces Drophead DP-200 and LB-30 Combo Amps

Ashdown Engineering has introduced a new all tube head, the DP200H, as well as two new tube “flip-top” combos incorporating the new head and the company’s Little Bastard with 15” speakers.

The DP-200 Drophead H features the preamp from the company’s 427 Small Block head, utilizing two ECC82 tubes, a ECC99, and two ECC82 tubes, while the power amp includes four 6550 tubes, putting out 200-watts. With an all-chrome chassis design inspired by classic US motorcycles, features of the amp include high and low gain inputs, a front mounted effects loop, and a 3-band EQ, as well as bass shift and bright switches. The head is rounded out with a balanced DI output with pre and post EQ switching.

The DP200 15H couples the Drophead 200 with a 15” bass driver and HF horn for an all in one combo package. Akin to other classic combo designs, the head is attached to the top of the cab and can be unclipped and turned upside down to fit neatly inside the enclosure with secure clamps to hold it in place. Similarly, Ashdown took their 30-watt Little Bastard head and brought it together with the same driver combination, saying that the resulting LB-30 Drophead “won’t rip your head off, but its EL84-equipped power section is more than capable enough for small gigs.”

The Drophead DP-200 combo will be available for $2,999, while its sibling the LB-30 will go for around $2,299. For more info, visit Ashdown’s website.
