Deep Purple Announce “The Songs That Built Rock” Tour

Deep PurpleDeep Purple have announced “The Songs That Built Rock” Tour, which will be the group’s first North American tour in four years. The trek marks another milestone as it will be the first time they perform with a symphony orchestra on the continent. The orchestra will accompany them on every date except for San Francisco.

The lineup for the shows will feature classic members of the band, including rock bass icon Roger Glover, singer Ian Gillan, and drummer Ian Paice. The group is rounded out by guitarist Steve Morse and keyboardist Don Airey. Together, they will be performing hits like “Smoke on the Water,” “Highway Star,” “Hush,” and “Space Truckin,’” and more.

Deep Purple fans can also look forward to a new studio album for 2012, but few details have been released.
