Coheed and Cambria Part Ways With Michael Todd

Coheed and CambriaCoheed and Cambria have parted ways with longtime bassist Michael Todd, according to a statement the band issued August 4th.

“After a lot of thought, introspection and discussion, Coheed and Cambria will be continuing our journey without bassist Michael Todd,” the message read. “We have spoken to him and this is a mutual decision between both parties. Michael was a great contributor; our hearts go out to his family and to all those who appreciate his talents. We wish him nothing but the very best.”

Todd was arrested July 10th for armed robbery hours before the Coheed gig at the Comcast Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts and released on bail on July 25th. He joined the group in 1996, but left the group in 2006 to enter a rehab center, eventually returning the next year. Bassist Wes Styles will be filling in for their upcoming shows in South America, and even with the loss, the band says they have no plans of slowing down.

“We are currently writing and recording songs for a new album, as well as a couple compilations this fall. We are very excited about how the songs are shaping up and can’t wait to share them with you.”
