Donald Harrison Releases This is Jazz, Featuring Ron Carter and Billy Cobham

Donald Harrison with Ron Carter and Billy Cobham: This is JazzDonald Harrison has released This is Jazz, his second effort on the Half Note label with master bassist Ron Carter and drummer Billy Cobham. The six-track album is cultivated from a set by the seasoned trio at New York’s Blue Note club.

Carter, who is lauded as one of the most recorded bassists in with over 2,500 albums under his belt, shines as both the foundation of the band and as a soloist. Between the funky New Orleans groove of “Treme Swagger” and his rousing unaccompanied rendition of “You are My Sunshine,” the record is just more proof of his legend.

The trio also visits “Seven Steps to Heaven,” which Carter recorded with the Miles Davis Quintet on the 1963 album of the same name.

This is Jazz Track List:

  1. Cut & Paste
  2. MSRP
  3. You Are My Sunshine
  4. Seven Steps To Heaven
  5. I Can’t Get Started
  6. Treme Swagger
