Chuck Rainey Recovering After Stroke

Chuck RaineyAfter suffering a major stroke on Friday November 4th, bass legend Chuck Rainey is expected to have a full recovery, according to his wife Susan.

“Thank U Dear Friends for all the prayers and healing Light,” Mrs. Rainey posted on Facebook. “Chuck had a stroke Friday night but the prognosis is good for a full recovery. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Much love to all of U.”

Rainey, who turned 71 this year, has enjoyed a prolific career with credits playing for Steely Dan, Donald Byrd, Quincy Jones, Aretha Franklin, and many more. His legacy has inspired and influenced legions of bassists.

    • It was funny because while at zoo music yesterday I ran into an old freind I used to play with in the North Texas college days. None other than Don Bell who played with Chuck for quite some time.
