Overwater Introduces Scott Devine Signature Series Bass
Overwater Basses have unveiled the first of their new line of signature instruments- the Scott Devine Signature Series Bass. Devine, who has performed with Georgie Fame, The Four Tops, Spyro Gyra and more, worked with the UK-based company to design the 5-string bass, which is strung with a high C.
Devine’s signature bass features bolt-on construction and a 33” scale that the bassist says keeps the left hand from stretching too much without losing fundamentals. The body is medium weight American Ash with a European Walnut top finished in a light satin lacquer, while the 3-piece wenge neck is topped with a Indian rosewood fretboard. Options for string spacing include 16.5mm or 18mm.
The bass’s pickups are a pair of custom Overwater OW5’s, spaced to Devine’s liking. Both are pushed closer to the center of the bass to avoid brittleness in the bridge pickup and muddiness in the neck pickup. The electronics include a custom active/passive John East U-Retro Deluxe. Controls include a Volume knob, Blend knob, a stacked Bass/Treble knob, passive tone control, and a Mid control with a frequency selector. For hardware, Overwater included ABM individual bridge saddles and Gotoh style tuners.
The Overwater Scott Devine Signature Series Bass is available now, and has an RRP of £2495 (approximately $3,916 USD), though they are offering an introductory price of £1795 (approximately $2,817 USD) until December 8th. For more info, check out the Overwater Basses site.
