Ron Carter, Herbie Hancock and Billy Cobham: “Walkin'”, Live (1983)
Holy smokes, this is the definition of greatness.
In 1983, Ron Carter, Herbie Hancock and Billy Cobham took the stage at the Palazzo dei Congressi in Lugano, Switzerland to perform as part of town’s annual summer jazz festival.
Here, the three legends are performing “Walkin'”, written by Richard Carpenter for Miles Davis.
This clip comes from the World of Rhythm Live DVD.
wow! nice one.
With these greats schools always in session…now ‘scuse me while I take a seat in the front!
Do some research about the”composer”, Richard Carpenter. Pretty interesting. Great clip!
When I was young I had the pleasure to meet Herbie and shake his hand. I had no clue who he was. Someday I’ll be cool. It hasn’t happend yet!
Different Richard Carpenter…this one was a crooked manager in the 60s who often claimed credit for his clients’ compositions. ” Walkin'” was probably written by Jimmy Mundy, although some argue it was written by Gene Ammons or Miles Davis. It was not written by either Richard Carpenter…
Scary amazing.
The only way I can drop you a tune on your wall is to infiltrate a thread and hijack that shit! Sorry bro but you NEED to hear this! http://youtu.be/oopWc6DE7dE
