Gallien-Krueger Announces MB Fusion 800 Bass Amplifier

Gallien-Krueger MB Fusion 800 Bass Amp

Gallien-Krueger has expanded its MB series bass amplifiers with the MB Fusion 800, an 800-watt amp that brings together an all tube preamp and a digital power amp. Similar to the rest of the line, the MB Fusion 800 is built with an aluminum chassis and is sized to fit in a gig bag for easy portability.

The contour filter and mid-frequency controls are selectable by pushing the knob and setting the frequency you want to adjust. Pushing the Master Knob engages or disengages the built-in limiter, and pushing the Gain A and Gain B knobs allows you to drive the tubes to get different tones in tandem with the Level-B knob. All of the controls are backlit and change colors when engaged – including the mute switch – to make your settings clearly visible.

Back-mounted features include a selectable headphone/chain/line output, and XLR out with pre/post EQ switch, a footswitch jack and an effects loop.

The GK MB Fusion 800 will be hitting the streets in the 4th quarter of 2012, with a price tag of $899. For more, check out the GK website.

  1. Not sure if I like it. The theory sounds cool but hey, I’ve been wrong before, hehe.

  2. the idea of a digital power amp makes me sick a little bit in my mouth. surely they could have made it digital pre-amp and all tube power amp in order to get the best of both worlds and justify the name ‘fusion’?

although, I haven’t heard it yet.. this is mostly a knee-jerk reaction to the phrase ‘digital power amp’ :P

  3. Grrr, please stop calling it ‘digital’. D class amplifiers do not contain any D/A conversion and thus are not in the digital domain!!! Oh, the MB800 does sound great though.

  4. All you need to do it try one…. the tube pre amp is where the tone is generated – the amp just magnifies the tone. I own the 500 watt version, and it kicks major booty!

  5. damn straight! there is no digital amplification there whatsoever! d class amp. just like in a car stereo. small but powerful. I own MB500 (without the tube pre) and it sounds sick. with a custom made tube preamp in front(where I get most my tone from) and a BBE SONIC STOMP in the effects loop the amp becomes basically an active eq and a source of tremendous power. at less than 4lb it is a perfect choice for a working musician on the go. my 2 cents.

  6. Do these class d gk amps have the same crazy amount of decapitating treble that the older style ones did?

  7. When they say available 4th quarter 2012 is that just in the USA. Do we have to wait any longer in the UK.

  8. Our bass player Robert Asencio can’t wait for this Gallien-Krueger Head to come out! We’re pretty sure it’s going to be amazing.

  9. before you cats decide to bash these amps, try one out or zip it. I own the 800 fusion, and it is an amazing amp….sounds great and has more power than you need. The thing only weighs 5.5 lbs! Im a working musician and would much rather carry this around than an old 40 or 50 lber that offers the same sound or power this amp offers.
