John Mayer Releases “Born and Raised”, Featuring Sean Hurley
John Mayer has returned with Born and Raised, his first album since 2009 as well as his infamous 2010 Playboy interview that put him in the media doghouse.
Taking a page from folk rock from the ’70s, Mayer channels the spirit of singer-songwriters like Neil Young with rich acoustic guitars and harmonica throughout.
The album is underpinned by bassist Sean Hurley, an L.A.-based session player who has been with Mayer since 2008. Hurley dug into his vintage gear for the album, utilizing his ’66 P-bass and an Ampeg B-15 among other equipment to get a thick old school sound and create a solid foundation for his band members to build on.
“Proud to be a part of Born and Raised,” Hurley tweeted. “So happy that it’s out for all to hear.”
Born and Raised is available on CD, digital (iTunes and Amazon MP3) and vinyl formats.
