Rolling Stones Rehearsing with Bill Wyman

Rolling Stones 2012

Back in April, we shared the news that the Rolling Stones were re-uniting with Bill Wyman, in celebration of the group’s 50th anniversary, which they celebrated last week. Wyman held down the low end for the group from 1962 until 1993, when he left to form his own band, Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings.

Guitarist Ronnie Wood said Wyman is returning in “top form” and “rocking”, adding that “it’s like he’d never been away.”

Guitarist Keith Richards shared some additional hope for Stones fans.

“We’re playing around with the idea [of a tour] and had a couple of rehearsals,” Richards said. “…we’ve got together and it feels so good.”

The Stones opened “Rolling Stones 50, A Photographic Exhibition”, a photographic exhibit of the band’s long history, as part of the celebration and festivities. The exhibit is running from now until August 27, 2012 at Somerset House in London.

  1. Perhaps Darryl Jones was getting too expensive?

  2. Bob Dylan: “I’m not saying they don’t keep going, but they need Bill…they’ll be the real Rolling Stones when they get Bill back.”

  3. It will be good to see ole Billy back on the bass, it will bring back some of the old band mystique.

  4. Not very considerate of Darryl, is it?

  5. Listen, I respect that Bill is the time-honored bassist here but honestly, Darryl can play circles around him. There is simply no comparison. Sorry Stones purists. But he’s a great guy and it would be a thrill to see him after so long. But if he tours, what is Darryl supposed to do? Root pig and die poor? Besides, Bill doesn’t fly any more. Let sleeping dogs lie. Perhaps he can pick a couple of venues close to home and be a surprise guest!
