Bass of the Week: Blasius Bali Fretless 4-String

Blasius Bali Fretless 4-String Bass

Hungarian boutique bass shop Blasius designed their Bali model for players who prefer a more classical sounding instrument. Knowing versatility is key, they also included electronics to give it the ability to sound modern, too.

Here’s a gorgeous fretless 4-string version of the Bali, built with an 8-piece body of ash, maple and walnut. The bolt-on neck is a 9-piece laminate of amaranth and maple topped with an ebony fingerboard.

The pickups are a pair of Woodhead 4 single coils paired with Noll’s TCM 3 electronics, which offers Volume, Balance, Bass, Midrange, and Treble controls. The Volume knob also doubles as an active/passive mode switch.

Hardware on the bass includes the company’s 3D bridge and Schaller tuners. The bass is finished in red with a silk lacquer. For more info, check out the Blasius Guitars website.
