Kathy Valentine Suffers Wrist Injury, Sits Out Tour Dates

Kathy ValentineGo-Go’s bassist Kathy Valentine has been sidelined with a broken wrist and will have to sit out of the band’s current tour. The Go-Go’s are touring in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the hit album Vacation.

Valentine, who co-wrote the album, has had surgery to realign the distal radius bone.

“The surgery will allow for wrist movement much quicker than a cast treatment,” Valentine explained. “As of next Tuesday I will have a whole week of healing in, and should have new bone tissue by 4 weeks. I start rehab Monday. As I progress, I’ll be able to tell how the action of bass playing will work into things… For now it’s about rest, healing, good diet, good physical therapy. I miss being with the Go-Go’s so much and hope more than anything I can join in on the second leg of the tour.”

Filling in will be Los Angeles-based multi-instrumentalist Abby Travis, whose resume includes work with Beck, Exene Cervenka, KMFDM, Dee Dee Ramone, and more.

“Obviously, we will miss Kathy terribly,” the Go-Go’s stated. “We’re so honored that such a great musician like Abby has made herself available to step into the large void that Kathy’s injury has created.” The group added Valentine will rejoin the tour once her rehabilitation is complete.

  1. No creo que sea de estudiar.

  2. If the bassist for We The Kings can; Find out he has a brain tumor, get brain surgery, and fully recover withing 2 months, then her wrist will do fine. The human body is stronger than we give it credit for.
