Derrick Murdock / David “Fingers” Haynes Jam

Bassist Derrick “Dock” Murdock shared this video with us, after seeing our recent videos with Victor Wooten and Nathan East, each performing with David “Fingers” Haynes. Dock recorded this video with Haynes, along with Matthew Pittman on keys.

A humble bassist, Dock said, “Although I’m nowhere near as great as these 2 icons [Victor and Nathan], I was hoping to get my vid featured in hopes of getting some positive and negative feedback.”

Well, Dock, here you go to start: we love the slap, the groove, the technique and the unison lines were crazy. (Oh, and that bass clef neck inlay is the bomb too).

  2. That’s the kinda stuff that makes a guy smile.

  3. I just lit a match, but it’s not strong enough to stop this much funk! love the right hand technique!

  4. That was pretty effing serious.

  5. My palms got sweaty from the funk…wow.

  6. Negative feedback…are you kidding me? Off the chain!

  7. hahahaha. Negative feedback? How ’bout that’s not me. :D

  8. So good video , mister Derrick it is one amazing bassplayer , even if it does not smile ;-)).

  9. That’s what it is all about right there. You took us through a journey of several different right hand style approaches with some very melodic phrasing. When laying in that triplet feel your upper and lower notes are very clean and clear but with a rubbery swank that adds a pro shine to the lines. Solid.

  10. Doubling the synth line…. you got me
