The Motet: “Canned Heat” Cover

Facebook friend Michael Coderre turned me onto Colorado based band The Motet, sending in this awesome cover of Jamiroquai’s “Canned Heat”. As if the band’s rock solid groove isn’t enough, bassist Garrett Sayers takes a sweet solo at the 8-minute mark.

As Michael put it, “The man is boss. Straight up.”

We agree.

  2. Great playing Garrett and the tone is killer.

  3. great groove and sound, solid work.

  4. WOW. the band is a groove monster. plus, garrett and the trumpet player both hit licks I’mo be copin’ very soon. and if u r going to do covers, it may as well be jamiroquai.

  5. used to see him all the time with a band called Miracle Orchestra here in Connecticut. He was primarily a fretless player and he had killer tone and amazing basslines.

  6. Yeeeaah Amazing bass player!

  7. Lovin’ that vibe from the crowd.

  8. That singer has an uncanny resemblance to Lazy Town’s Robbie Rotten.

  9. They also do a pretty good turn as a grateful dead tribute band!

  10. Great stuff. I’ll add a plug for the keyboard player’s band, Juno What. If they come to your town, you must go. One of the funkiest shows I’ve ever been too. Both keys guys play serious grooves http://junowhat.net/index.html
