John Patitucci Releases Melodic Arpeggios and Triad Combining for Bass, Episode 1
John Patitucci has teamed up with David Gage String Instruments to release Episode 1 of the bassist’s new Kindle book, Melodic Arpeggios and Triad Combining for Bass.
The book, which is made of exercises that Patitucci developed over 10 years, is the first of a six part series designed to take the tedium out of practicing valuable skills.
“It is my goal to give us all material to practice that will keep us engaged and help us grow,” Patitucci shares. “If we can enjoy working on these crucial building blocks, we will buy ourselves a tremendous amount of freedom when it comes to expression, whether we are dealing with the music of Mozart or Coltrane.”
Melodic Arpeggios and Triad Combining for Bass, Episode 1 contains six exercises focusing on major arpeggios as well as intonation and shifting. The book culminates in a major arpeggio etude based on a theme by Bottesini that many bassists will find familiar.

nice! I’ll have to check this one out. Sounds right up my alley!
Only Kindle version? It doesn’t make any sense…
Turns out you can read kindle books on different platforms (iPad, etc) with a Kindle app. The guys at David Gage say that they might print hard copies once all 6 parts are out, but it seems like its up in the air.
Any idea when the next part is coming out?
