Sharay Reed: Groovin’ to Jackson 5 and Stevie Wonder

If you don’t know bassist Sharay Reed by now, you should definitely check him out (start here, then come back, or vice versa).

In this video, Sharay says he was grooving on a couple of songs his dad wanted him to record, the Jackson 5’s “Darling Dear” and Stevie Wonder’s “I Was Made to Love Her”.

Thank you, Sharay’s dad!

  1. Jamerson was soo groovy. Very nice playing Sharay! and thanks for sticking with old school tone…perfect.

  2. He’s Legit! solid bass playing.

  3. I’m guessing Sharay’s using the the transcriptions as a guide? Really interesting if so.

  4. That’s Bass. You can tap, slap, play chords, but the bottom line is that you have to lay a solid foundation and groove. He will always get a gig by playing like that.

  5. sounds like he is using a bridge mute..

  6. really underrated style. those grooves are insane.
