Jim Bennett: All Bass Daft Punk “Get Lucky” Cover

Here’s a video that’s just plain remarkable on so many levels.

First, the back story. Bassist Jim Bennett was taken to the hospital on January 1st, 2013, where he was diagnosed with necrotizing pancreatitis and given a 10% chance of surviving. Thankfully, he beat the odds.

After he recovered, he realized how important music was in his life.

“I did more music in the past — I also play upright bass — but I stopped while I was working. But this ordeal put us all through the wringer and I realized how important music is in my life along with my family and friends,” Bennett told The Vancouver Sun.

The bassist decided to give Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” a whirl, and playing it in the style of his idol, Victor Wooten.

The video has now been viewed more than 600,000 times. Time to add to the count:

Jim has made the audio available on Soundcloud.
