MarloweDK Releases “Beginning Slap Bass” for iPad and iPhone

Beginning Slap Bass with MarloweDK screen example 2Bassist and educator Thomas Risell – perhaps best known as MarloweDK – has released his “Beginning Slap Bass” lessons in the form of an iPad and iPhone app.

Beginning Slap Bass with MarloweDK features 25 licks covering all the fundamentals – slapping, popping, slides, hammer-ons, pull-offs, bends, double thumbing and more.

Each lick includes four different videos – three set at a different tempo plus a left- and right-hand closeups. Performance notes and tips are also included for each lick.

MarloweDK included another nice feature with the addition of an animated TAB and fretboard viewer that runs in real time with the videos. You can play along at any tempo and there’s also a metronome click and drum beat option to help keep time.

The techniques section of the app features written explanations and close-up videos for the 15 key techniques covered in the app.

An introductory video offers MarloweDK’s insights on bass playing fundamentals as well.

MarloweDK has achieved worldwide notoriety through his bass lessons and play-along videos on Youtube and his own site, PlayBassNow.com. He is also a No Treble contributor.

Beginning Slap Bass with MarloweDK for iOS devices is available from the App Store for $9.99. The app is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad and requires iOS 4.3 or later.
