Bass of the Week: Electrical Guitar Company Series One Bass

This week we take a look at the Electrical Guitar Company Series One Bass, an instrument built around a hollow “C” shaped anodized aluminum neck. The neck assembly is completely isolated from the body for maximum sustain.

“All aluminum rings out in a very unique way,” EGC writes. “It almost has a natural chorus to it. For as many highs it adds, it adds as many lows and mids.”

Weighing in at around 10 pounds, the Series One Bass is built with either an aluminum or wood body with options of alder, mahogany or maple. It’s available with either custom design single coil or humbucking pickups with volume and tone controls for each pickup as well as a toggle switch.

Hardware on the bass includes Gotoh tuners, a Gotoh or Schaller bridge, and stainless steel frets.

Therees mine, and it’s an amazingly cool instrument with tone and punch for days. He’s the best at this type of build, and it’s an approach that works VERY well.

  5. I wish they would have added some video about how it sounds, it is an interesting instrument and I like how it looks

  6. Maximum sustain. Really. When’s the last time you had a note that you just really, really needed to ring out for 20-30 seconds? Never? Me neither.

  7. It reminds me of my old Travis Bean. It sustained a long time.
