Moog Introduces Five New Minifooger Effects Pedals

Moog Minifooger Effects Pedals

Moog has unveiled the Minifooger family of effects pedals designed for use with bass and electric guitar. The compact stompboxes are housed in cast aluminum enclosures and feature completely analog signal paths, true bypass, optional battery power, and an expression input for adjusting parameters on the fly. Each of the pedals is designed and hand assembled in North Carolina.

Moog MF Boost

Moog MF Boost PedalThe MF Boost features two boost paths with an “articulate VCA” signal path and a “colored OTA” signal path that are toggled with a switch. Moog explains the pedal also imparts a natural compression to an input signal to bring out articulation and benefit your other effects pedals.

The expression input on the MF Boost controls the gain, which makes the pedal double as a volume pedal. Other controls include Gain, Level and Tone.

Moog MF Boost Specs:

  • Signal Path: 100% Analog
  • Bypass Type: True bypass
  • Power: +9VDC, 9V Battery
  • Weight: 18oz (0.5kg)
  • Enclosure: Cast aluminum
  • Gain: 65dB +18dB
  • Tone Control: 165 Hz – 20KHz Lowpass Filter 6dB/Octave (wet signal only)
  • Expression: Controls Gain (Max Input level +5VDC)
  • Price: $149

Moog MF Drive

Moog MF Drive PedalThe MF Drive is a filter-based overdrive that incorporates a Moog Ladder Filter, FET amplifiers, and classic OTAs to make it “highly reactive to picking dynamics.”

In addition to the pedal’s standard Gain, Level, and Tone controls, it has filter Peak switch that adds a 15dB boost at the Filter cutoff, which is controlled by the Filter knob. In tandem the controls allow for drastic tone shaping. The MF Drive’s expression input is assigned to the Filter cutoff, essentially allowing the pedal to be a a tunable dirty wah.

Moog MF Drive Specs:

  • Signal Path: 100% Analog
  • Bypass Type: True bypass
  • Power: +9VDC
  • Weight: 18oz (0.5kg)
  • Enclosure: Cast aluminum
  • Dimensions: D=5.75″ (14.4 cm) W=3.25″ (8.3 cm) H=2.25″ (5.8 cm)
  • Drive Switch: Down+6.8dB to +48dB gain /Up +16dB to +57dB gain
  • Peak: +15dB resonance peak at the filter cutoff frequency
  • Tone Control: (Min): Lowpass 6dB at ~ 1KHz, (Center): -6dB Scoop at 800Hz, (Max): Highpass -6dB at ~ 1KHz (-18dB shelf)
  • Ladder Filter: 2-Pole 12dB/octave 100Hz to 17.5KHz
  • Expression: Controls Filter (Max Input level +5VDC)
  • Price: $179

Moog MF Ring

Moog MF Ring PedalBased on the company’s Moogerfooger MF-102, the MF Ring is a ring modulator with a refined frequency range and tone voicing circuit for dialing in octaves, choral dissonance, and harmonic undertones.

The expression pedal input controls the Freq parameter for sound sweeps and pitch shifting effects.

Moog MF Ring Specs:

  • Signal Path: 100% Analog
  • Bypass Type: True bypass
  • Power: +9VDC
  • Weight: 18oz (0.5kg)
  • Enclosure: Cast aluminum
  • Dimensions: D=5.75″ (14.4 cm) W=3.25″ (8.3 cm) H=2.25″ (5.8 cm)
  • Frequency Control: Oscillator range is 90Hz 1.5KHz nominal; Max with expression 12KHz
  • Tone Control: 165 Hz – 20KHz Lowpass Filter 6dB/Octave (wet signal only)
  • Expression: Controls Freq (Max Input level +5VDC. Response of internal oscillator is not linear above +4V input)
  • Price: $159

Moog MF Delay

Moog MF Delay PedalThe MF Delay offers 35mS to 700mS of Bucket Brigade based analog repeats with controls for Time, Feedback, Mix, and Drive.

Drive controls a pre-delay circuit that provides more than 22dB of gain to both the input and delayed signals, resulting in boosts ranging from subtle to an overdrive.

The expression input can be assigned to either Time or Feedback.

Moog MF Delay Specs:

  • Signal Path: 100% Analog
  • Bypass Type: True bypass
  • Power: +9VDC
  • Weight: 18oz (0.5kg)
  • Enclosure: Cast aluminum
  • Dimensions: D: 5.75″ (14.4 cm) W: 3.25″ (8.3 cm) H: 2.25″ (5.8 cm)
  • Delay Time: 22dB range
  • Expression: Selectable – Controls Time or FeedBack (Max Input level +5VDC)
  • Price: $219

Moog MF Trem

Moog MF Trem PedalFinally, the MF Trem is a tremolo pedal designed around a balanced modulator and Sub Audio VCO, resulting in a wide range of tremolo effects based on phase cancellation and addition.

The Trem has a variable Shape knob to sweep between modulation waveshapes. The expression pedal input is assigned to Speed.

Moog MF Trem Specs:

  • Signal Path: 100% Analog
  • Bypass Type: True bypass
  • Power: +9VDC
  • Weight: 18oz (0.5kg)
  • Enclosure: Cast aluminum
  • Dimensions: D: 5.75″ (14.4 cm) W: 3.25″ (8.3 cm) H: 2.25″ (5.8 cm)
  • Lfo Speed: 0.6Hz to 12Hz, with Shape in Mid-position
  • Tone Control: 165 Hz – 20KHz Lowpass Filter 6dB/Octave (wet signal only)
  • Expression: Controls Speed (Max Input level +5VDC)
  • Price: $189

  1. While posting the specs is always nice, lets hear the pedals. No one is going to buy a pedal based on specs, we buy em based on demos! Can’t wait to hear them though, moog always has good fun stuff.

And before anyone says it, I know they probably aren’t out quite yet, but just throwing this out there so we can possibly get a demo form you guys!
