Gov’t Mule: “Thorazine Shuffle” Live with Allen Woody

A couple weeks ago we celebrated the birthday of the late great Allen Woody. On that day, we posted a question on our Facebook page, asking readers which of his bass lines they liked the best.

You all roared back with one of the baddest rock bass riffs ever: “Thorazine Shuffle”.

Here’s the original Gov’t Mule lineup featuring Woody on bass, Warren Haynes on guitar and Matt Abts on drums during a live performance from 1999.

While the video quality could be better, it does capture the band’s ferocity and has lots of close ups of the bassist and his black EB3.

In his time with No Treble, Kevin has met hundreds of amazing bassists and interviewed icons like Jack Casady, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, and more. He's a gigging bassist performing jazz in Northern Virginia and bluegrass with The Plate Scrapers up and down the East Coast. Kevin appreciates all genres of music, from R&B to metal and everything in between. Connect with Kevin on Facebook and check his performance schedule on his website.
